Anji Khad Bridge is India's Tallest Cable Stay bridge built for Indian Railways on Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Line, Inauguration and opened on 6 June 2025 for regular traffic.

Technical Specifications : Anji Khad Cable Stay Bridge

  • Asymmetrical cable stayed design with a single, inverted "Y"-shaped pylon.
  • Dimensional details : Length - 473 m, Main Central Span - 290 m, Height of Pylon - 193 m, Height from riverbed to pylon top - 331 m, Number of Stay cables - 96.
  • Full accessibility of bridge components through a system of movable/fixed inspection platforms, walkways and ladders.

Materials and Engineering : Anji Khad Cable Stay Bridge

  • Over 8,200 MT of fabricated steel used.
  • 2.8 lakh High-Strength Friction Grip (HSFG) bolts (M27, property class 10.9)
  • More than 42,000 cubic meters of concrete.
  • Extensive slope stabilization using Rhomboidal wire mesh, DN43, and Cable Anchoring.
  • Advanced Structural Health Monitoring System for real-time monitoring and alerts. 

Main Pylon Construction : Anji Khad Cable Stay Bridge

  • Foundation : Well foundation with circumferential micro-piling (159 piles, each 40 m deep).
  • Equipment : 205-meter-high COMANSA crane imported from spain.
  • Construction Method : Jump from shuttering used for efficient and safe pylon construction.

Stay Cable Installation : Anji Khad Cable Stay Bridge

  • Cable strands : 15.7 mm diameter, triple layer corrosion protection (galvanized, wax-filled, and PU sheathed) 
  • Installation Period : Began on 26 May 2022 and Completed on 26 April 2023 - a record 11-month timeline.
  • Total Cable Weight : 849 metric tonnes.
  • Combined Cable Length : 653 km - longer than the road distance from Jammu to Delhi.
