MAHARASHTRA PWD SOR 2025 : PWD SCHEDULE OF RATES FOR BUILDING, GREEN BUILDING, ROAD AND BRIDGE WORKS 2025

Schedule of Rates (SOR) is the standard list of rates of various items or works, which helps the preparation of an estimate to set the rates of materials, Labour and services in construction projects. The department oversaw irrigation, roads, bridges, and public building projects.

With the formation of the State of Maharashtra in 1960, the department was reorganised into two separate entities: the Irrigation Department and the Building Communication Department. In 1980, housing functions were further delegated to a separate department, solidifying the existing Public Works Department in its current role.

  • The importance of quality control, the rates for important testing equipment required for laboratory and the lab testing rates, test frequency table have also been included in this SOR.
  • It consists of a group of items such as excavation items, concrete items, demolition items, plumbing and electrification works.
  • It is very helpful, especially in the preparation of estimates, wages of worker and deciding the rates of materials and works of the contractor.
  • In this SOR, the innovative road construction techniques have been included, providing engineers with the flexibility to adopt modern, efficient, and sustainable practices.
  • All road and bridge construction work shall be carried out as per the norms specified in IRC codes, IS codes, and ASTM specifications. However, the specifications provided by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRT&H) shall take precedence over all other codes.
  • This revised SOR is a significant step towards sustainable and efficient infrastructure development, ensuring environmental protection and the adoption of modern construction technologies.

The Public Works Department (PWD) Maharashtra plays a leading role in the state’s infrastructure development, ensuring efficient planning, execution, and maintenance of public assets.
The department is responsible for road works, including maintenance on National Highways, State Highways and Major District Roads and construction and maintenance of Government Buildings. It also undertakes construction on behalf of other departments under the Deposit Contribution Works.
